Today the National Runway Cycling and Skating event was held at payar lebar air base. Since it was a free event, my brother and I, along with over 2000 cyclists took it to the aircraft-frequented tarmacs. We registered for the 45km endurance challenge, which wasnt exactly an endurance challenge, but trying to keep up with the diehard chiongsters is the challenge. The racers make the race.

The event flags off at 8:30 and since it is located appoximately 20km from home and we dont know our way there, we woke up at 5.30am. We prepared for a terribly and unusually long 1hour15mins before leaving home. Everything was well until we got lost after macritchie reservior. But when you have almost the entire island's cyclists gathering together, there's bound to be company. We followed 3 adults right to the destination.

Witnessed 2 crashes involving kids as we(road bikers!) whizzed past everyone. Pity them, a good day gone bad with a crash. 10am and the whole thing is over. Post-race carnival is bad. Majority didnt even bother to stay. We cycled back how we came(fortunately we remembered the route) and in total we rode 93km today, including the competitive 45km in the middle.
