Yesterday was my 22 year old cousin's wedding. Unlike other distant cousins where I just SHOW UP for the curtain-closing wedding dinner, I was quite involved with this close cousin's wedding. This wedding made me witnessed and experienced alot of firsts of the long and winding chinese wedding traditions. Like the tea ceremony, which not only did I witness it first-hand, I even offered the bride and groom tea. Then comes the best part which I've soo often watched and read about but never realised I'd never witnessed until I did: the procession from the groom's house to obtain the bride and subsequently where the groom's party will face off with the bride's friends. In this case, my cousins longtime friends made the groom's entourage wear disposable undies and eat some shit-like biscuits. There were more tests, like drinking from a 2m long straw, but the boys used the groom's key to barge it. Spoilers! From this I concluded this: When I marry, either I bring tons of fully loaded angpaus, or I have professional-haggling brothers to tackle the bride's party.
